Brain Aneurysm

WHAT IS A BRAIN ANEURYSM?

It is a condition of abnormal swelling or ballooning that occurs in the wall of the cerebral vessels. It occurs when the vessel wall loses its strength and elasticity and the vessel swells outward. This abnormal area in the wall of the aneurysm can rupture, which can also lead to brain hemorrhage. Bleeding often occurs within the subarachnoid Decubitus between the brain and the thin tissue covering the brain.

WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT METHODS OF BRAIN ANEURYSM?

Currently, there are 2 treatment methods for a hemorrhaged brain aneurysm.

Surgical clamping; the aneurysm is closed by clamping the neck. A section of the skull is removed, opening a window to the brain. A metal clip is placed on the aneurysm neck to stop the blood flow inside the brain aneurysm.

Endovascular treatment is a less invasive procedure than surgery and usually reaches a brain aneurysm by placing a catheter in an artery from the wrist or groin by intravascular staining. Then, it can treat the aneurysm internally with different combinations of methods.

The treatment of an aneurysm of the brain that has not ruptured may be appropriate in some cases and may prevent a hemorrhage in the future.
