PITUITARY TUMOR
The pituitary gland is a small gland, normally weighing 1 gram, located in the brain, just below the visual nerves. Although the pituitary gland is small in size, its function in the body is very important. If the pituitary gland, which carries out activities of vital importance, stops functioning, severe conditions may occur that will result in death in a short time. Among all brain tumors, pituitary tumors are observed at a rate of 5-10 percent. Pituitary tumors can be seen in both women and men. It can also rarely be seen in children. Due to the fact that hormonal activities are more, their effects occur more in women. Because there is less hormonal activity in men, tumors seen in men are usually diagnosed later and are larger tumors.
