How is a Kidney Transplant Performed?

Kidney transplantation (transplantation) is the placement of a solid organ capable of performing these functions in the body of patients with end-stage renal failure. The healthy organ required for kidney transplantation (transplantation) is provided from cadavers or live donors. In our country, transplants are performed mostly with kidneys obtained from live donors Jul.

The results of transplants performed with kidneys obtained from a living donor are better than those performed with kidneys obtained from a cadaver. Jul. But in order for organ transplantation to heal a large number of patients, the number of organ donations from cadavers must increase.

The recipient’s surgery is performed by entering through an incision made in the groin area. The arteries and veins in this area are prepared. The vessels of the kidney are sutured to these vessels, providing blood supply to the organ. The urinary tract is connected to the bladder with the appropriate surgical technique and the procedure is terminated.

Since the surgical wound is very small in transplants performed with this method, the patient’s pain and similar complaints are very few after the operation. There are few problems related to the wound after surgery. For this reason, patients’ periods after surgery are monitored comfortably.
