What is IVF Treatment?

In Vitro fertilization (IVF) method is an assisted reproductive technique applied to couples who cannot have children and has been used for a long time. At the beginning of the most preferred infertility treatments today, “In Vitro fertilization” comes.

In cases where the cause of unexplained infertility, infection, blockage in the tubes, low sperm quality of the man, weight or advanced age may be caused by IVF method, couples can have a baby.

IVF treatment, which are the female reproductive cells, the eggs and sperm, which are male reproductive cells outside of the body and collected, aggregated to be achieved in the treatment process, which allows fertilization in the laboratory covers.

Fertilized eggs begin to divide and are placed in the uterus of the expectant mother while undergoing the first stages of development, called embryos, in a laboratory environment. The pregnancy obtained after this stage is no different from pregnancies that occur naturally.

The difference from a natural pregnancy is that the fertilization process is performed under laboratory conditions and the fertilized eggs are placed back into the mother’s uterus.

Vaccination treatment may also be preferred before IVF treatment, especially for male-related infertility. The sperm collected in this method is transferred into the uterus.

The placement of eggs in IVF is performed in two ways:

The fertilization process in the laboratory environment is either in the form of leaving the sperm next to the eggs and waiting for these sperm to enter the egg on their own and perform the fertilization process (classic IVF).
Under a microscope, sperm is injected directly into the egg with the help of a pipette to ensure fertilization (microinjection). IVF specialists Decipher the preference between the two methods according to the characteristics of the couples. The goal is to get the highest chance of success for the couple.

What is the Difference between Vaccination Treatment and IVF? When Is It Applied?

Vaccination Treatment is one of the preferred treatments before IVF treatment, especially in cases of male-related and unexplained infertility.

In vaccination, the woman’s ovaries are stimulated, as in IVF treatment, and after the eggs are cracked, the sperm taken from the man is transferred into the uterus with a cannula.

At least one of the woman’s tubes must be open in order for the vaccination to be applied. The results of a man’s sperm analysis should be normal or close to normal. In addition, a woman should not have an endometrial pathology (endometriosis disease) that will prevent pregnancy from holding.

In which cases is IVF treatment performed?

If it is impossible to get pregnant for 1 year or more despite having sexual intercourse without using any method of prevention, the infertility method can be performed.

Step-by-Step IVF Treatment

Initial stage: Education

The first step of in vitro fertilization treatment is the training to be given by the in vitro fertilization coordinator. At this stage, information about the procedures is given, the treatment plan and how to carry out are explained, how to take your medications on your own is taught, and the necessary approval forms are signed.

Stage One: Stimulation of the Ovaries and Monitoring of Egg Development

The basis of IVF treatment is the complete control of a woman’s ovaries. For this purpose, some drug treatments are applied.

While these medications prevent you from ovulating before the desired time, they are in the form of a nasal spray or an injection applied under the skin. You will be given the necessary training to use it on your own.

The success of IVF treatment depends on the production of a large number of eggs in the female ovaries. For this purpose, the ovaries, which are kept under control with the previously mentioned drugs, are stimulated with drugs that stimulate egg development. These drugs are injections made under the skin or into November.

It takes about 10 days for the ovaries to be stimulated with these drugs. During this process, you need to be checked several times to monitor your egg development.

During these checks, your ultrasound is performed, and if necessary, the hormone levels in your blood are checked and the dose adjustment of your medications is made.

The Second Stage: The Collection of Eggs

During the follow-up of egg development, on the day when it is determined that a sufficient number of eggs have matured, an injection is made to complete the last stage of egg development.

The collection of eggs is the 36th after this last drug injection. it is programmed into the clock.

During the collection of eggs, sedative, sleep-inducing drugs can be given, as well as the procedure can also be performed completely under anesthesia.

The procedure is similar to the vaginal ultrasonography performed during your egg development follow-up. The only difference is that a needle attached to a vaginal ultrasonography instrument is passed through the vagina and collects the eggs inside your ovaries.

The average duration of the procedure is 30 minutes. Fertilization with sperm cells is performed on the day the eggs are collected. After 2-3 hours of rest following the collection of the eggs, the couple is discharged from the hospital.

After this stage of IVF treatment, the couple is informed about the drugs to be used.

Third: Laboratory Operations

The day after the eggs are collected, the couple is informed about how many of the eggs have been fertilized normally.

After this stage, normally fertilized eggs are monitored in the laboratory for between 2 and 5 days, and at the appropriate time, the best quality ones are selected in a certain number and placed back into the mother’s womb. Decapitated eggs are placed back into the mother’s womb. Decapitated eggs are placed back into the mother’s womb. The couple is informed about when this placement process will be performed.

The Fourth and Final Stage: Embryo Transfer

Before the embryo transfer process, which is the last stage of IVF treatment, the couple is informed about the number and quality of embryos to be transferred.

The ebrio transfer is no different from a very simple inspection process. There is no need for any anesthesia. The only request before the transfer is for the expectant mother to drink water and fill the bladder a little. Because the transfer process is performed under ultrasonographic observation, and for this, the bladder must be somewhat full.

During the transfer process, a catheter loaded with embryos is inserted through the vagina and cervix and placed in the uterus, and the embryos are released into the uterus.

If there are good quality embryos or embryos left behind after the placement procedure, the couple’s approval is obtained and the embryos are frozen and stored for future use.

After resting in the hospital for 3-4 hours after the transfer, the couple is sent home and the woman is asked to spend that day resting.

Progesterone, estrogen and/or other additional supplements may be started after egg collection or embryo October to support the development of pregnancy.

It is possible to find out the result of IVF treatment with a pregnancy test performed 14 days after the transfer. If your test turns out to be positive, an ultrasound appointment will be made to monitor your baby’s heartbeat after 3 weeks.
