WHAT IS COLON (LARGE INTESTINE) CANCER?

The most effective way to protect against cancer or detect the disease at an early stage is regular endoscopic examinations. At the beginning of these, colonoscopy comes first. The preparation and application of colonoscopy has become much easier and more comfortable for the patient today. The new colonoscopes are applied extremely easily and the desired results are obtained without disturbing the patient. The diagnosis of colon cancer is made with some tests under the leadership of specialist physicians.  After the patient’s application to the doctor and physical examination, the following tests are performed respectively;

Examination of hidden blood in the stool: This is an extremely simple test, small amounts of stool samples are examined in the laboratory.
Radiological examinations: Double contrast colon X-ray and computed tomography are performed.
Laboratory tests: Complete blood count, biochemical tests are performed. Among them, the CEA (Carcinoembryonic antigen) test is one of the tests that can be elevated in the blood Decongestant colon cancers and help diagnosis.
For a definitive diagnosis, endoscopic examinations are performed: rectoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and biopsy. A piece is removed from the lesion and examined by a pathologist.
