Scoliosis

SCOLIOSIS

A healthy spine should look ‘straight’ when viewed from behind. The sideways curvature of the spine is called scoliosis. On the X-ray of a person with scoliosis, his spine looks like an “S” or “C” shape. Scoliosis, which can be confused with posture disorders, can be diagnosed correctly and successful results can be obtained when appropriate treatment is planned.

Congenital Scoliosis and Treatment Options

Controlled Monitoring

It is performed with December physical examinations and X-rays and continues until the skeletal system reaches maturity without special treatment unless there is an increase in curvature (it should also be performed after surgical treatment).

Surgical Treatment

Nowadays, in the majority of surgical treatments applied for the treatment of congenital spinal deformity in a growing child, curvature is tried to be controlled without spinal fusion or fusion to a limited area.

Limited Fusion Operations

Hemivertebrektomi

In some cases, curvature can be eliminated by removing the abnormal vertebra (hemivertebrectomy). After the operation, a body cast is applied between 3 and 6 months Dec.
